Athlete Service is owned and run by Rob Griffiths and Filipe Salbany. Based just outside Henley-on-Thames around 30 miles west of London. Athlete Service was set up in 2007 to provide reliable, top class bike servicing and setup to local athletes (with initial demand from top class rowers in the area and helping groups of cyclists (including helping to establish a local cycling club GS Henley). We have grown from strength to strength over the past 5 years opening a new "training centre" in May 2011. We can now offer a large range of services (outlined below) but our main selling point is friendly, honest, impartial advice on training, bike setup, equipment and coaching.
Filipe has 25+ years of experience in top class sport, competing internationally in cycling, running, swimming and triathlon as well as having run bike shops, developed and built wheels and advised on bike development. Experience gained training and racing at top level combined with a background in exercise physiology, a natural eye for technique and movement and a gift for coaching, provides a unique combination of talents for our bike fitting and coaching services.
There are numerous bike fitting specialists around but it is rare for any to have the knowledge of physiology and anatomy as well as top level competition experience to draw on. Filipe has coached and mentored numerous World and Olympic champions in a variety of endurance sports all of whom are inspired by his knowledge and passion for performance and it is great to be able to offer some of these services to a wider audience from beginner triathletes and sportive cyclists to those looking to race and compete and improve at any level.
Rob has a background in rowing (15 year national/international level) and has had a passion for cycling since a young age. After "retiring" from rowing in 2006 Rob set his sights on competing in long distance triathlon and in 2011 finished 42nd overall in the Hawaii Ironman World Championships, the top British Age Group Athlete.
The aim of Athlete Service is to provide a complete service to athletes at all levels in cycling and triathlon to improve all aspects of performance.
