Custom Bike Build and Advice

We offer a complete approach, looking at your current position (cycling), working out your aims and targets, the kind of events you are aiming to compete in and your body shape/type and level of competitiion. (Of course a flat 10 mile time trial setup will be completely different set up to a 100 mile cyclosportive event setup, but it's surprising how bike shops overlook this when setting up bikes!). We will help advise on all aspects of setup either optimising your existing bike (maybe just tweaking position or upgrading in a cost effective manner) or building you a complete new bike with all the accessories.

We can supply bikes and all accessories working with a wide variety of suppliers. We tend to recommend tested packages and products that we know will work well together. We are able to adapt specifications and advise on the best use of your budget. If you have a perfect bike in mind we are happy to custom build sourcing the parts for you or you can supply the parts and use our highly experienced mechanics to assemble the bike for you and set up to your requirements.

"It's not about the bike"

The bike CAN make a difference, however not as much as most people like to think!

Unlike most bike shops which will of course try to sell you the most expensive bike possible, or certain brands that they can make the most money on (we can do that if you like too!) this is not necessarily in your best interest if you take a sensible approach!

A question which we are often asked (weekly or daily!) is "how much do you think is a reasonable amount to spend on a bike". For example an athlete who has recently entered a cyclosportive event or similar challenge to complete an "Etape du Tour" type of event in a respectable time our advise may be as follows:

One package that is proving very popular is the Cinelli Estrada complete bike which works out around £2500. (Cycling Weekly recently reviewd 10/10 and is an extremely good value package). This bike will be lighter, stiffer and generally more comfortable for this type of event than a bike which was winning the Tour de France even 5 years ago.! Once you spend more than this you would have to question whether an extra £1000 spent on a frame or wheels would not be best put to use on a package of physiological testing, training advice and a week's training camp? Of course a bike shop won't say this but you will almost certainly gain more speed from the latter!
